Popping on here today to wish you all a happy mental health day.
There’s such big conversation we need to have around mental health… about how we talk about it, the stigma around it, and the misconceptions. But I don’t have any big answers.
Seven months ago, I quit my job and started grad school for clinical mental health counseling.
I’m going into counseling to work on the small scale. I’m interested in people’s stories, and challenges, and how they see the world. I think everyone has a completely unique perspective, and I want to help people who are struggling with theirs.
I believe that how we think + feel about things affects everything in our lives, and that’s why I feel passionate about this work in a way I’ve never felt before. :-)
I can’t find a source for the quote I’m sharing below. It’s stuck with me since the first time I heard it years ago, and it feels like a big part of what’s driving this passion for me. I’m not a visionary. I’m not going to drive changes on a global scale. I’m a listener. I care about the details.
Helping one person might not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.
