This is a game changer. But I’m wondering if maybe everyone in the world already knew about this? Just not me?
I bought popcorn kernels a month ago, and I was too apprehensive to try to pop it until three days ago. Since then I have made it every day.
It is so easy! Somehow I was convinced that it was finicky and complicated. It’s turned in to a really fun afternoon ritual, sitting around talking and eating popcorn.
Get a big pot. Coat the bottom in a layer of oil. I use canola. A barely there layer works, but a thicker layer makes the popcorn taste better. Add two kernels and put the lid on.
Medium-high / high heat. When the two kernels pop, add a layer of popcorn. You want one layer with no overlap, but it’s pretty forgiving.
Shake it. Keep the lid on, and shake it pretty often so nothing sticks or burns. I tilt the lid open once to let some steam out, but I don’t think it’s necessary.
Salt it. That’s it! Pour into a big bowl, top it with more salt than you think you need, and enjoy. You could also use parmesan cheese, nutritional yeast, or creole seasoning.
Afternoons taste so good.
