This week, I’m doing a photo project along with Ali Edwards: Week in the Life. I’ve done it the last two years, and it’s a fun snapshot of what’s going on in my life every year.
I just realized I still haven’t shared my 2015 Week in the Life on the blog. Maybe I’ll do that next. But right now, I want to share in real time along with everyone else participating this year.
Today, I’m sharing words and photos from yesterday when the project started.

7:15 AM. Wake up and have coffee with P before he goes to work. I just discovered Silk caramel almond creamer and I love it.
10:15 AM. Somehow, the morning always gets away from me. I’ve been watching vegan what I ate videos on YouTube because I’m thinking about cutting out dairy (what up, Lauren Toyota). It’s a constant battle, always thinking about new ways of eating that might make me feel better, but I’m feeling inspired by this right now.
I decide I have to make a move if I want to have a good Monday. Reheat my coffee, put on an episode of True Blood, and start getting some steps in.
11:15 AM. Awesome breakfast of leftover Indian food: chana masala and rice from our anniversary dinner on Saturday. :-)
12:30 PM. I take a shower and head to the grocery store that’s 20 minutes away and full of stuff my regular store doesn’t have. I went a little crazy and got things like sprouted grain bread, a young coconut, and a ton of cashew and coconut ice cream. (Because that was one of my top reasons for going and THEY WERE ON SALE!! Less than half the cost of what I’ve seen them for.) It was a huge success.
4:00 PM. Late lunch is some toast with butter and jam (from the new bread), and it is amazing.
5:30 PM. P and I take a walk after work. Then we sit down and try to do a Sudoku together and I feed us strawberries. Maybe the cutest thing that’s happened all week. But, the puzzle was impossible and we tried for so long. We’ll probably try again tomorrow.
7:00 PM. We make buffalo chicken wraps about once a week. He uses frozen buffalo strips and I use soy buffalo wings, and we top them with lettuce, dressing, and cheddar cheese.
But I wanted to change mine up so I didn’t miss the dairy. So I switch it up for some Gardein crispy chicken tenders with lettuce, tomato, avocado, and some homemade “honey” mustard. We eat at the coffee table and watch Entourage and I mmmm my way through the entire thing.
9:30 PM. Tucked in for the night with Parks & Recreation and my first coconut milk ice cream.
Such an uneventful Monday, but really happy overall. I’ve been struggling with feeling really lazy and unproductive this month. But I looked at the calendar recently and realized that for as empty as this month is, next month is equally intense. So… I’m fighting to just sink into it and enjoy it for all it’s worth. It’s a struggle.
