Welcome to the party, August!
I have been trying hard for the past few months to stop saying things like, “Where has the time gone?” And, “It’s ____ already??” Also things like, “I can’t wait for ____.” I keep hearing about retraining your thoughts and feelings by constantly putting things a certain way. I’m trying to quit the feeling of time slipping away.
Not to get all serious. Just to explain why I will not be starting this with “August already?! I thought it was still May.” I have definitely done that here. And recently. But no more.
So: August! You’ve arrived at just the exact right time.
The July goals were trumped with a bit of trouble adjusting to my current lifestyle. I’ve been diving deep into working through some things and working on some self improvement. It’s helping me get to a better place that I didn’t really know I needed. But in the meantime, it’s like cleaning out the attic. Everything is currently in piles on the floor and I’m building some shelves, but it’s sort of a hot mess.
Again not to get all serious. But to explain that I won’t be giving myself a hard time for not checking off the boxes. They’re the boxes for when things are basically in order.
Some thoughts on the July & August goals:
The “patience” checkbox is still a super important one for me. And I finally got enough perspective to actually start practicing that one, so I’m keeping it on the list this time around.
Computer time hasn’t been too much of a problem. I don’t get on very early, and I even think it’s ok if I get back to it a little more. Maybe that means that box was incredibly checked off…
I still love my new camera, but I want to remember to take all of those daily life photos that make me so happy.
The beach and pool days could have used a bit more attention. But “drinking lots of wine” was a wild success.
Other goals in August include being mindful and “single-tasking.” I keep reading about multitasking, and how it’s not the best practice. I’ve been scatterbrained recently, and I want to try to focus on one thing at a time and do it well.
Happy August! Here’s to enjoying it.
