so, the birthday was awesome. really, everything was perfect. so i can’t be that bummed about 27 being finito.
e.p. surprised me in the morning with a cappuccino from wawa + my gift. i told him we should wait until the night to open it, and proceeded to tear into it. he got me the wacom bamboo capture tablet. i have absolutely no need for it, which is exactly how presents should be. i didn’t want to buy it for myself, but i really wanted it. i had a blast playing with it yesterday.
i went to my parents’ in the morning to celebrate. i mentioned that mama always made us stand next to the microwave at our birth-times, and how the numbers never showed up. so my dad went a little … creative. and if you notice, you can clearly see 8:10 on the microwave. so this photo was 1 minute late. (we took a bunch.)
at work, they got me an ice cream cake, and a swedish friend had his wife bring me candies.
there was another surprise before lunch: a delivery!
:) another surprise from e.p. — strawberries + bananas.
i chose brio for dinner, where i’d only been once, and my parents never had. for some reason, i was worried the food wouldn’t be great.
i was wrong.
my mom loved this salad so much i split it with her.
we got the margherita flatbread to share.
and for the main event, i ordered the pasta alla vodka, which they happily gave me without pancetta. it. was. amazing. like, i’m still dreaming of going back again this week just to order it again. the pasta seemed handmade, stuffed with ricotta. it was so soft. and the sauce was incredible.
i got a birthday dessert, and everyone sang. mama missed the photo op, which is why e.p. is laughing at me fake “blowing out the candle.”
we all took a bite… but i had something else in mind. cold stone was next door.
for a monday, it wasn’t half bad. i guess they can’t all be filled with so many gifts + so much pampering. i have to get to work planning however else i want to celebrate this month.
