hi lovelies. happy memorial day to everybody in the us! and especially those with a sweet day off.
our festivities were yesterday, at my mama’s house. the pool opened on wednesday! now the water just needs to get a little warmer than 60* before i jump in. it didn’t stop this kid, though.
i was more than happy to stay in splashing range + snack on all the appetizers.
hey. i got a haircut! i’ve only posted one photo since, of my awesome baby woes, so it obviously wasn’t the highlight there. this was kind of a sloppy day, but you get the idea. i’m thinking of getting it a little shorter in another month or so. it’s already creeping back to my neck + i wanted it away from there for the summer.
who’s pretending to be suave with her ray-bans? -> this guy.
and sangria. did i mention the sangria? i saved all effort for later in the year, and we all sipped $5 carlo rossi. i know. classy + perfect.
because i focused on the wine instead of the swimming (as i hope it stays all summer), i can assure you these were not my underpants.
i really, really couldn’t resist.
our late lunch was pretty standard for us. delicious veggie burger (standard only for me), a mountain of ketchup, potatoes, asparagus.
dessert, however, was the tops.
mama made red velvet cupcakes from a mix, with some sort of heavenly cream cheese frosting. did i mention there were 6 adults at this party?
probably 300 cupcakes. i assure you they were almost gone when we said goodbye. ep insists i turn my cupcakes into sandwiches like he does. it resulted in less crumbs lost, so i obliged.
and we rounded out the night with a walk in the park before we went home. i think summer is here.
i’m linking this up with “what i ate wednesday” this week, hosted by jenn at peas + crayons.
looking forward to seeing all the other delicious picnic foods + nerding out over summer.
