it’s like my first friday of the week. i only have off thursday, but that’s good enough for me. i went to yoga class with melissa, and now i’m watching shameless on the imac while blogging. i have big plans to paint my nails, but i might try to go to sleep instead. i haven’t slept much this week, and it’s not helping my case any… hopefully i’m doing better before the real holidays.
i’m going to share a bunch of miscellaneous eats from the week. what i ate wednesday is hosted by jenn at peas and crayons.
some of my breakfasts were back to just coffee. i just wasn’t hungry. i’m trying to be mindful of what and when i’m eating. i’m determined that i’m going to be back on track and give weight watchers a solid effort [you know, again ;-) ].
but i had breakfast-themed snacks… a bowl of corn pops/raisin bran/frosted flakes at my parents —
and discovered shortbread with EP in atlantic city —
i enjoyed some breaks in the break room, since it’s too cold to sit on my car by the lake right now. cheered it up with a green tea latte, rereading the night circus, and my second washi taped journal.
i decided that right now, i’m going to work on simple mini meals to get on track. i really like being in the kitchen, but i can’t do too many days of the same leftovers. and if i have too many flops in a row, i start to feel disgruntled. so my favorite throwback recently has been the smallest, easiest thing ever… multigrain english muffins with laughing cow cheese wedges [preferably french onion] + sliced tomato.
this time it went along with some lima beans with brummel + brown, and extra tomato with garlic salt + white balsamic vinegar. ;-) simple, baby.
dinner last night was more indulgence and less “on track.” but i kept it in mind throughout the day, and i think i was more balanced overall. i also didn’t overeat until i was uncomfortable. [mini steps.]
it was incredible though… my favorite italian meal at my favorite restaurant with my favorite guy.
salad, bruschetta + eggplant bruschetta, and homemade fettuccine with monte rosa sauce. it’s a brandy blush sauce with spinach and baked mozzarella. so amazing.
i’m looking forward to thanksgiving tomorrow. my brother is having us over for the first time. i’m contributing wine. [i may have sampled the chocolate wine ahead of time. quality control.]
i also splurged this year on a tofurky. i have completely enjoyed my sides-only thanksgivings the past 3 years. but i am in desperate desire of a thanksgiving sandwich, and i’m interested to give this a go. [thanksgiving sandwich: bread. mayo. turkey. stuffing. cranberry sauce… messy, messy delight.] do you see those “wish stix”?!
i planned out a thanksgiving platter a la weight watchers. hokey, but it’s along the lines of my attempt at being mindful —
mama is bringing pies —
and we’ve started planning our christmas cookies!!! we’ve got 14 solid decisions.
