tuesday for me means what i ate wednesday. the link party is hosted by jenn at peas and crayons.
i’m really digging trader joe’s dark roast. i’ve been struggling with the amount of grinding i should be doing. i had a few cups that were just way too weak. so then i followed it up with a cup that was just a bit too intense.
but it is stupendous, once i stopped screwing it up. a little sugar and a little 2% milk, and it’s a pretty good morning. [plus some cinnamon on the grounds.]
breakfast today was “overnight oats,” but the cheater way of “just-before-i-shower-in-the-morning oats.” i added a bit too much cinnamon, but they were still good.
in the mix: 1/4 cup rolled oats, tbsp chia seeds, cup of unsweetened almond milk, diced banana, blueberries, cinnamon, vanilla, and a little sweetener.
later, i spent lunchtime with EP, and tried to soak it up, since we won’t have much chance to hang out this week.
we had a couple slices of pizza and followed it up with some ice cream.
my dinner share was actually from monday [although i am certainly not against pizza twice in one day]. homemade pizza!
the crust is whole wheat whole foods crust [from a $5 2-pack <3]. topped with sliced tomato, mozzarella + sharp cheddar, frozen pineapple, tempeh bacon, garlic, and basil.
alongside some awesome sautéed kale. delicious! a friend of mine made it a few weeks ago, and i discovered that if you give it enough time, i like it so much more than baked.
and the big finale to my day was…
i rejoined the gym.
yes! after deciding it was the best decision for me 7 months ago to… quit the gym.
if i’ve learned anything about my habits recently, it’s that i get bored with exercise, basically no matter what. i don’t like it, but it’s true, and i’m trying to work with it. i love yoga, but i stop wanting to go if i push myself to take classes too frequently. and i love walking outside, and tennis, and popping in a hilarious workout dvd. i also do love the gym.
it’s a pretty reasonable price, and they have a lot of classes i’d like to try [with less frequency, so i can avoid burn-out]… i’ve also missed the elliptical.
so the plan: i’m not going to make myself wake up early to sweat it out in the morning. i cramp if i’ve eaten before exercise, but i HATE waking up early more than once in a while. and i’m going to try to keep it interesting, and not do the same thing too much in a row. elliptical, a few easy weights, pilates class, yoga class, zumba class (!!?! the gym finally added a class), possibly the pool once ours closes for the season.
and that’s that.
here’s to finding a healthy august!
