happy tuesday! I had a beautiful night of sleep last night. and locked myself out of the apartment this morning. luckily my landlord was home and his wife directed him to the spare key. but I was in a good mood. I drove to work with the windows down, my hair blowing around, and bittersweet symphony playing on the radio. I felt exactly like reese witherspoon in cruel intentions.
it’s amazing what a great night of sleep will do for you.
I bookended the day with another great mood, and spent some time in the pool before leftovers for dinner.
what I ate wednesday is hosted by jenn at peas and crayons. this week’s eats are from beach day on sunday, and some new foods from grocery shopping saturday. I had a really fun excursion with a friend to whole foods and trader joe’s.
I may have bought 3 pints of strawberries at whole foods. I got overly excited about the $4 price tag for organic pints. I’m guessing that isn’t actually so good. and I eat non-organic all the time.
but they’re one of the few fruits EP will share with me, and they were appreciated on the beach.
we stopped at the pizza shop on the boardwalk per usual for lunch. the air conditioning is so choice after a few hours, and hey do have great pizza. I tried a new slice: bruschetta. white pizza with tomato, red onion, basil, and an incredible balsamic glaze. gotta try this one when I make homemade pizza.
afternoon skee ball won us a couple of rad lime green bracelets. (and I got to keep both, because they were slightly too small for EP).
my favorite lunch is definitely this new find from whole foods: tofurky!
this is what we used to joke about before anyone was vegetarian. but it was seriously delicious. there was nothing like a turkey + cheese sandwich with mayo + lettuce on grainy wheat bread. I haven’t had one in 3 years! stupendous.
and I am almost dreaming of the one I’m going to enjoy tomorrow. the cutie at the cheese counter sampled me an entire block of cheddar, because he worried that he strong armed me into buying the raw one. he said this way, I’d be happy either way.
and dinner was from the whole foods deli counter. vegan general tso’s chicken. enjoyed with some mushrooms and scallions, amaranth, and asparagus. it almost looks like I made myself a real dinner! ;-)
can I mention the fact that as much as I love them, I’ve never bought or cooked scallions??
so there is my hodge podge for this week. such great new foods from one afternoon of groceries.
