this what i ate wednesday, hosted by jenn at peas and crayons, is my tuesday eats.
monday was perhaps one of the most unhealthy days i’ve spent recently. it was the start more than anything. mama pea’s peanut butter dough cookies accompanied me to work. after my 6th one, i called it breakfast.
it did not bode well for my stomach the rest of the day. i was craving nothing but sugary creamy things, and i didn’t realize until later how entirely bad it all was. moderation is great, and an unhealthy time or two, but i don’t know how i just kept going. i didn’t feel terrible until later in the day.
SO! today i was more determined to take care of myself… something i don’t do nearly as well as i’d like sometimes. i got a little help in an unwelcome way – i woke up sick to my stomach. i had coffee + soymilk at home to see if i was really going to be sick, before i went to work. not great. but it didn’t last all day.
i made it to work, and around 9:30 i was ready for breakfast. a bowl of creamy oatmeal perked me right up.
- 1/3 c rolled oats
- 1/2 c soymilk + 1/2 c water
- 1/2 scoop vanilla sunwarrior protein powder
- 1 splenda
i microwaved and microwaved, and i finally gave up and took it back to my desk. it seemed way too soupy, but it thickened up after a few minutes.
i added a fresh peach and topped it all with cinnamon.
to see if i could really get a good mood going this week, i decided to join EP for the bagel shop. it’s a cute little place that’s never too busy, with fresh bagels. their hours are “until the bagels run out.” it’s nothing fancy, by any means, but it’s the only place around here for bagels almost-as-good-as-long-island.
i get the “jersey shore” sandwich, and sub hummus for the standard tuna. it comes with swiss cheese, sprouts, and sundried tomatoes. on a toasted everything bagel, naturally. it is so good. i always separate the toppings to eat it open faced, so i don’t inhale it all in 2 minutes.
i also shared 1/2 a chocolate chip cookie.
we headed out for a late dinner around 7:30, and the sun was still shining.
we went to don pablo’s, where we shared chips and salsa. i had a frozen peach margarita and portobello mushroom fajitas.
