welcome to the second installment of my “what i ate wednesday” series… from sunny, stupendous riviera maya.
again, not sure how the formatting will turn out, but this time it’s because I’ve got a margarita in my hand instead of a computer. (not really. it’s breakfast time.)
instead of sharing a full day of eats for wiaw, I’d like to share my favorite breakfast and lunch so far (since I already shared favorite dinner.)
sunday’s breakfast was in the main restaurant, on the second floor overlooking the beach, with all the doors open, so we had a great breeze.
we started off with coffee and juice. I had the “tulum”: pineapple nectar, pear, and guava. incredible.
on a side note, by this breakfast, I had had a bug suicide-land in a drink at every. single. meal. I obviously couldn’t waste these drinks. so I just kept pretending it hadn’t happened.
then we shared the grilled grapefruit plate.
for the main dish, I had eggs motul style: two eggs with “fried beans” over tortillas, topped with a tomato sauce and peas also with: tomatoes, potatoes, and a little piece of grilled banana. it was also incredible… I need more words for incredible after this vacation.
I’m about to go have this breakfast again. :-)
favorite lunch came on monday (anniversary day). we hadn’t enjoyed lunch as much as other meals yet. so we decided to try it in a new location: on the beach! the atmosphere was perfect, but the food was, too.
we started off with chips: guacamole for me and nachos for him.
then we had salads. mine was the best so far: mixed greens with goat cheese, chopped walnuts, sun-dried strawberries, and balsamic vinaigrette.
the main event was a toasted mozzarella and peppers sandwich on ciabatta bread. it was excellent, but I just realized I forgot a photo! so, to make amends… I’ll share two other photos from lunchtime that make me smile.
happy wednesday, everyone!
