to backtrack from saturday for a minute, friday was when the important easter preparations began.
we dyed easter eggs.
i told my parents how much i love the tradition, but that i just can’t enjoy myself sitting at the kitchen table for hours by myself. so, i got some company.
it was a hilarious event, and they did not stop goofing off when i pulled out my camera. but, i will spare them any embarrassment on the blog, since they don’t read it, and i don’t want to lose my photography privileges. ;-)
all of friday was just as relaxing. i went to a 9:30 AM yoga class, since i had a day off, and then completely lost track of time watching movies on my couch. after the egg dying, i headed back to my apartment, where EP eventually joined me. [insert saturday’s festivities here.]
easter was just as delightful. [i did not wear flip flops on easter… i think this photo was from when we enjoyed the nice weather on friday…]
we headed to my parents’ house around noon for a quick easter egg hunt. i love the tradition, but i hate the game. i am a terrible seeker. my mom “hides” eggs out in the open like you would for a five-year-old. i didn’t have quite the same luck with papa, and would go to my hiding spots to find things like this…
after that, i stand in one spot and move in a circle, look to my parents for hints, and this year, just left it to EP. it was adorable. [he earned even more points with mama and brought her flowers.]
we hung out with my family for a while, and then drove over to meet his family.
i loved the company at my house, but there ended up being nothing for me to eat. my mom decided at the last minute not to make the lasagna she had planned, and i obviously didn’t go for the ham. when we got to EP’s family gathering, i was surprised with two of my very favorite foods! (left off the menu he was texted, because our hostess probably assumed they were insignificant. HA!)
green bean casserole. and
i almost cried.
nothing was photographed there, but it was great.
then we headed back to my parents for some dessert. oh, did i forget to mention that we had dessert with EP’s family? there was homemade cannoli dip with little cannoli chips. but i still had to try my mama’s cheesecake, because she made a new kind especially for me.
also, i had started the day with a gigantic peanut butter chocolate egg. it is my favorite candy, and it only happens once per year, but, now, i am not feeling too great. i still feel a little sluggish from all the sugary treats. and for them to get to me, you know that’s a big deal. :p so the rest of the week, i’m going to work on balancing out. starting with a new “bedtime” tea monday night. i <3 “bedtime blends.”
