Reverb10 was led last year by Gwen Bell, Kaileen Elise, and Cali Harris, to celebrate life and mourn losses. I answered about 5 prompts. This year, I’m creating my own Reverb11. It is a month-long challenge, to blog every day of December, reflect on 2011, and think about 2012. Feel free to answer my prompts or share your own.
Today’s prompt – DINE: What was the best meal or culinary experience you had this year? Where was it? What made it so great?

- beignets in new orleans. they’ve become almost too famous, but to me, it’s because they’re just that good. tourists waited in line with kids on their way to school. three beignets, and an iced cafe au lait.
- mexican food in las vegas. we flew out for work, and had one night of freedom. a coworker who had spent many lonely weeks out there told us how to find his favorite restaurant. it was away from the strip, and this place was not a tourist attraction. we had pitchers of cadillac margaritas, and some of the best mexican food that’s ever graced my lips.
- raw vegan cheesecake in massachusetts. nyssa and i spent four days in massachusetts for my birthday. we visited a vegan restaurant at least twice, with a yoga studio & stage for singers upstairs. the food was fun, and the raw vegan cheesecake was eaten, i think for my lunch, while having an intense conversation, and a lot of soothing, kind words from her to me.
- the best meal i had was an order of tofu pad thai at the most eclectic restaurant. it was on st. john, and was completely open-air. our table was up a few steps, in the corner, and covered by a roof. i sat on a bench surrounded by pillows. the food was delicious. i can still see his face during that dinner, how content and happy he seemed. it was the same for me.
